ENJ Raiway, Sculpture Park, Art Gallery, Architecture, Lake,
the Oil Island
In the 1880s the railway reached Ängelsberg. It supplimented
the canal and added to the
transportation facilities for the Engelsberg ironworks as well as for
the oil factory on the island nearby. Ängelsberg
became an attractive place to visit with its beautiful scenery, easy to
reach with the railway .
The Ironmaster and established artists invited their painting
friends and relatives and then the
artists´colony the "Engelsberg Painters" developed. Successful
painters and industrialists built themselves villas designed by architects
and the communty also got a magnificent railway station. Its style was
used by local building contractors and thus many buildings got an imaginative
look.
The interest in art is very much alive in Ängelsberg
and many exhibitions take place in the galleries and the Sculpture park.
A walk through the community, maybe from the World Heritage,
the Engelsberg ironworks, offers exciting architecture, beautiful scenery
and perhaps some experiences of art.
